Anthony G. Edwards is a Vice-President and Senior Credit Risk Officer at Skyline National Bank in Galax, Virginia.  A native of Mount Airy, North Carolina, he has a deep connection to small business and rural community development, influenced by his mother’s leadership of a family business for over 30 years.

After earning a Finance degree from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro (2009), Edwards furthered his education, graduating as the honor graduate of the Virginia Bankers Association – School of Bank Management (hosted at the University of Virginia) (2019) and as an honors graduate from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University (2023).

Edwards joined Skyline National Bank in 2012 (formerly Grayson National Bank), where he now leads loan review, credit analysis, appraisal management, and their Teslar platform. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he led the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) team for Skyline, distributing over $126 million in funds across three states.  Skyline National Bank earned recognition in Forbes Digital Magazine in an article titled “Why Relationships Still Matter:  How Community Banks Saved the Country During Covid-19” for their efforts during 2020.

An advocate for rural development, Edwards chairs Junior Appalachian Musicians, Inc., an organization teaching traditional Appalachian history and music to children in the seven-state region of the Southeast. He also leads the "Imagination Library of the Twin Counties," a regional literacy project benefiting children in Carroll County, City of Galax, and Grayson County, Virginia. He recently joined the Board Investment Committee of Partner Community Capital (PCAP), a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) based out of Charleston, West Virginia.
Outside of work, Edwards enjoys spending time with wife Lindsay, and their two children. Actively participating in community and Church life.  He and his family are members of Resurrection Church in Hillsville where he teaches an expository studies class on the Old Testament.   

He will speak at Summitt 2025 on his bank’s partnership with the NC Rural Center’s Loan Participation Program and Rural Lending in Western North Carolina.
