About the Speaker
Jacqueline A. Davis

Dr. Jacqueline A. Davis is the Director of the Community Health & Wellness Institute in the College of Health Sciences at UNCP where she provides oversight in fostering partnerships between the university and the community in addressing health disparities in southeastern NC to improve health and life outcomes and promoting a well-diverse health care workforce. She is also Project Director of the Southeastern Prevention & Addiction Recovery Resource Center (SPARC), where she promotes/fosters collaborative community efforts of substance/opioid use disorders focusing on prevention, treatment, and recovery with the Robeson Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP). Other interests and research projects include the impact of COVID-19 on marginalized populations; improving maternal health through service provider education; evaluating a medication-assisted treatment program in a local detention center; and addressing food insecurities via faith-based health education, all to improve health outcomes. She received her B.S. degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from UNCP, MPH degree in Public Health Administration from USC-Columbia, and Ph.D. degree in Public Health, with a concentration in Community Health, from Walden University. As a seasoned public health professional with over two decades of experience, she lives by the motto, “in the community for the community.”
