Leigh Angel

Leigh Angel, MSN, RN, is a dedicated nursing educator and healthcare leader with over 22 years of experience in acute care, nursing leadership, and academic administration. She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Western Carolina University (WCU) and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).
Leigh began her career in clinical practice, working in acute care and leadership roles at Mission Hospital and Advent Health Hendersonville. In 2014, she transitioned to nursing education as the program director for the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) program at WCU. Since 2019, she has served as the Dean of Health Sciences at Blue Ridge Community College, where she oversees curriculum development, faculty support, and healthcare program expansion.
She has been instrumental in securing grant funding for advanced medical equipment and educational materials, enhancing hands-on learning experiences for students. Her leadership has contributed to accreditation successes, including CoARC accreditation for the respiratory therapy program in 2024 and ACEN accreditation for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program.
Leigh is actively engaged in professional development through state and national professional organizations, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and emerging trends in healthcare education. Her involvement enhances faculty development, curriculum innovation, and student success, reinforcing her commitment to high-quality, evidence-based education for future healthcare professionals.
