Shakeerah McCoy
Director of Rural Health Innovation
North Carolina Healthcare Foundation
Shakeerah McCoy serves as the Director, Rural Health Innovation for the North Carolina Healthcare Foundation, a nonprofit affiliate of North Carolina Healthcare Association. She is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of rural programs and services that provide technical assistance to North Carolina’s critical access and small rural hospitals through the Medicare Flexibility (FLEX) and Small Rural Hospital Improvement (SHIP) grant programs. She also provides oversight to the Social Impact Program, a new innovative model vested in cross sector collaborative partnerships between anchor institutions and community-based organizations that bolsters community voice in program design and community health improvement initiatives focusing on transportation as a key social driver of health. McCoy has 18 years of nursing experience in both the acute and long-term acute care environment. She earned a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in African and African American diaspora studies; BSN from Barton College; MSN from East Carolina University in the Clinical Nurse Specialist concentration; 2023 National Rural Health Association Fellow; NC Rural Economic Development Institute (REDI) Graduate.
