Ryan Nance has held leadership roles in economic development at both local and state levels, with a significant focus on the electric utility sector throughout his career. Since joining NC’s Electric Cooperatives in 2019, he’s steered their statewide strategy for economic development with a mission to empower communities’ efforts towards prosperity thru business growth, job creation, and overall quality of life improvements. In 2025, cooperatives supported new business and expansion projects that announced investments totaling $1.349 billion and estimated 1,846 new jobs to be created over the next several years. Cooperatives have invested over $100 million in grants and zero-interest loans for community & economic development projects over the past decade.

Previously, Ryan worked at the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina in various capacities, culminating in his role as Director of Business Development, where he supported NC’s five international investment offices and led efforts to proactively cultivate new business prospects for the state.

Born and raised in Robeson County, Ryan worked in textile manufacturing and small business before earning degrees from NC State and an MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill. He serves on multiple committees, and volunteers with his local F3 region to get dads and kids into fitness. Currently residing in Apex, Ryan enjoys outdoor adventures with his two boys and Hurricanes hockey.
